Q: I have an old recycling receipt that the grocery store won’t cash because it’s expired. What can I do to get my money?
A: For expired recycling vouchers, you would need to mail the original into our office at:

Tomra Pacific, Inc./rePLANET

Q: The store where I did my recycling closed and I have a receipt that I need to cash, how can I get my money?
A: We can redeem the receipt if you mail it to the address above. We cannot redeem or reissue these receipts at the recycling centers.

Q: How long does it take to get a new voucher after I mail my expired receipt in?
A: It will take approximately 2-3 weeks for you to get your re-issued voucher back.

Q: Why is there an expiration date on these vouchers? Aren't they the same as money?
A: The reason why the receipts are only valid for 30 days is that it has to do with our accounting and it helps us keep track of the vouchers issued to customers.

Q: How much do you pay for aluminum, glass, and/or plastic?
A: If you are returning individual containers, we pay $0.05 for containers less than 24 ounces and $0.10 for containers 24 ounces or larger. For bulk returns the following per-pound prices apply:

Q: Where can I recycle cardboard or anything other than CRV beverages?
A: You can call the United States Environmental Hotline at 1-800-CLEANUP or 1-877-EARTH911, or go to www.earth911.org

Q: Do I need to separate my CRV containers?
A: If you use the automated reverse vending machines (RVMs), your containers will be sorted automatically. Otherwise transactions will go faster if you separate your containers by commodity before arriving at the recycling center.

Q: Do I need to keep my CRV containers clean, dry, and free of dirt?
A: Moisture and dirt add weight to the load, so deductions will be applied to loads containing dirt and/or moisture. Loads determined to be excessively contaminated will be refused altogether.

Q: Do I need to flatten/crush my CRV containers?
A: Containers should be left as whole when utilizing the RVMs, but you may flatten/crush containers that will be sold by weight.

Q: Do I need to remove bottle caps?
A: Caps do not need to be removed from containers.

Q: Do you weigh in bulk or count individual containers in order to calculate payment?
A: The consumer has the right to be paid per container when bringing in 50 (fifty) containers or less of each material type (aluminum, plastic, glass, and bimetal) in a single load. Recycling centers, at their discretion, may redeem more than 50 containers per material by count.

Q: Where can I get more information about the California Refund Value (CRV) program?
A: Complete information can be found at www.calrecycle.ca.gov/
